Group Size

I’ve always been pondering about this.

What is the best group size?

The smaller the group size, the more “anti-social” people label you as, and the bigger the group size, the more chaos and probability increase that you aren’t having a great time.

So here are my thoughts on group sizes:

1 Person: not a group.

2 People:  All the group members are either occupied or not occupied since they can only talk to one another. However, I think some people think that a group of 2 is quite lonely…

3 People:  In a perfect world, all three people would contribute equally to the conversation. But unfortunately, there are a lot of times where one person is much more quiet than the rest of the group. What that would cause is that person to be left out of the conversation, and slowly be “cut” off the group as one person moves forward to engage a 2 person conversation.

4 People:  When there are four people, I usually see people in two groups of two.  There are sometimes times where there are three people in conversation and the 4th person is left out.

5 People or more:  I think that most of the time the people split into smaller groups. This size is really, really unstable and I don’t really like it. And the bigger the size, the less order there is, more disagreements happen, and sitting is (personally) a hassle.

So personally I think that a group of 4 is the best group size to be in, since I’m sometimes extremely shy, so with 4 people, it should work out well. :)
