3D Printers
I am so happy that I finally saw a 3-D printer. It is amazing! Although it took a while for the 3-D printer to print, there was by far the most interesting thing I’ve seen in all quite a long time, watching it print each layer 1 by 1 slowly stacking up material, until finally it came out with a finished product.
It just opens up so many possibilities for people with less funds, allow them to design in actual 3-D than visualizing in their heads. Also especially if you need just like a small replacement part, you can just print out one of them, instead of waiting for the website to ship it to your house, which can take days.
While the content to print isn’t that diverse right now, I think that very soon there will be a files on iPad cases, to cups and folders.
I think I need to see a 3-D printer in action to really grasp the possibilities it offers. I just can’t wrap my head around how it works. Where did you see a demonstration?
My friend has one and has been using it to create small objects, including a case for his phone!
I also saw it at the TedxYouth Austin, they were giving out small 3-D printed tags.
